Thanks Rachel, for giving voters a sane alternative to the madness that we call "politics" in this country. In the past I've never really paid that much attention to politics, but the events that unfolded during the G20, here in my home town of Toronto last summer, made me realize that I must become more involved, because our democracy is undeniably at stake. During that event, I believe we were lied to by our government, purposely misled by the media, and forcefully denied our rights to freedom of expression.
Anyway, I won't ramble on like some crazy "anarchist" about the crimes that our government has committed against the people, but I just want to say that the Green Party seems to be the only party that has the courage to stand up for what they believe is good for our democracy, it's people and the world, not what they have calculated that people want to hear, which will ultimately translate into the most votes.
Thank you Rachel, for your courage, hard work and dedication that allowed us to have a sensible alternative to the madness that exists in our mainstream, media manipulated political scene.

I agree. Considering the defective system the Green party is up against, they ran a good campaign. At the beginning of this election I had no intentions of voting Green because I simply did not know what they offered. I soon discovered the great platform and respectable politicking the Green Party offers, and subsequently became an ardent supporter and member. The GPC would almost certainly be a major party if people understood what they offered. The election's over, but I hope the GPC continues getting their message out there.

I was also especially impressed by Rachel Barney and hope she runs again in 2015.

Ack -- I wonder what I could have said or how they could have misedited it -- I could not be further from endorsing their sellout on climate change! Says it all about the 'new style NDP', as you note. The good news (such as it is) is that over the next four years everyone will have a chance to see what we see...

Thank goodness you see in Layton's new style NDP, what I see. Cheap, shallow vote chasing at a cost of throwing out the preamble to their constitution! I nearly got sick when I saw you on CBC supporting Layton's cap and trade and for all the world, it sounded like an endorsement of the NDP.

Somewhat embarrassed now that I was thinking of doing this, and even mentioned it to you a couple of weeks ago, I'm glad I came to my better senses.

I think you ran an AWESOME race. As a past liberal voter, you were the only candidate that gave me a good reason to reconsider my voting this election. (Quite honestly, I'd never considered voting Green, but now I'm a huge fan!) It was a tight NDP/Liberal race in TrinSpa but I heard a lot of people make comments about what an impressive candidate you are, Rachel.

Don't give up hope! I want to see Greens gain more and more seats in the future!

I very much agree with this. So-called "strategic voting" is deeply cynical and deeply depressing. Our democracy would be much healthier if people would stop buying into it. If you could vote for a party and be proud of that vote, why wouldn't you?

Hi Rachel, I would have liked to have seen the debate but work didn't allow. I am also very much post-cable so watching on TV was not an option. Hopefully in the future even local debates can be streamed online so that anyone can watch them live or at a more convenient time. This is how I managed to watch the National Leaders debate as I was working at the time.

I agree with you completely. I have been frustrated because the media do not mention a thing about the Greens. I know we're the green sheep of the political family, but really. I think this is an example of media bias in action, but we need to do something to get their attention that doesn't involve outrageous comments.

I still say we will have a time of it on the voting day. I am looking forward to it, for sure. As always, please encourage and help younger first-timers to vote...that's important!
